Snow and freezing rain started to taper off in Fairfield County late in the morning Saturday as the quick-moving storm rapidly moved farther east. A total of 6 inches of snow was reported in Norwalk at 6 a.m. Saturday, with much of the county seeing an identical or similar amount of accumulation, with the 7.8 inches reported in Darien at dawn being the highest total reported.
