Born in the Bronx, New York, on Oct. 12, 1933, the son of the late Morris and Anna Mitchik Hiller, he was a lifelong Norwalk resident, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Early on, Hiller was a design engineer, working for Barnes Engineering, prior to operating his own service stations and tow trucks on both West Avenue and New Canaan Avenue in the 1970s.
